... and it was actually... good?! The crust is way better than I remembered . All garlic-y and whatnot.

Am I wrong?

Another shocker - I ate a McDonald’s double quarter pounder and I really liked it.

Domino s changed their pizza a few years ago to address complaints that older customers had for basically decades. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dominos-new-recipe-only-50-years-overdue/

Dominos Brooklyn style crust is actually quite good for the money.  $7.99 carryout, sometimes $5.99, hard to beat that, especially with the dearth of good not insanely priced pizza in the Seattle area.

Dominos seems to have rectified the ship when it comes to pizza. I keep trying to convince my mother that the cheese pizza is actually half decent now. I can’t say the same about their pepperoni, somehow it comes out with a million times more grease.

Yeah, about 5-6 years ago, Domino’s was losing their asses to Papa John’s (PJ were the gold standard in pizza chains for a long time). They rebranded everything, better ingredients, and TONS of garlic salt in the crust.

Meanwhile, Pizza Hut still sucks. I mean, if you like a buttery sponge with some cheese on it, it’s ok. And Little Caesars — for the price — is pretty solid.

Donino's is not bad these days, and their online ordering system is the best I've used. It's the only pizza that I can get delivered to my house without speaking to a person, so it definitely has it's place. Is it my favorite pizza? No, but I still like it.

That’s a NUR from me.  I’ve had Pizza on the western side of chicago that was thin crust and disgusting.  And also some in California that was pretty awful in the Livermore area.

I think Little Ceasars is the best national pizza chain. It's not the best, but it's priced just right. Their crazy bread is the best.

So my rural town got a Domnos about a month ago now. It’s still so popular it takes over an hour to get delivery in a town of 20,000 people.

DOminos has come a long way. 5 years back I wouldn’t touch that stuff but after trying the other major national chains, I concluded Domino s is the best balance of taste, quality and value for the $

I think what turned me off on Pizza Hut was watching crate upon crate of pre-made crusts show up at the back door. They just throw some stuff on it and toss it in the oven.

No you are not wrong, I ordered 15 pizzas from dominos last fall and they were really good and delivered to our work location in a city park in Sand Point ID in 30 minutes . It was a big hit with the guys.

Never did.. I did my share of fast-ish food and greasy spoon college places, but Pizza Hut was much more centralized than most places. Consisten cy trumps freshness. And that worked well in the 70s/80s/90s but is a harder sell today when people want fresher stuff.

Kinja'd!!! Dr. Zoidberg - RIP Oppo > benjrblant
07/20/2018 at 17:03

I think it's a 1/4" BEFORE the "cooking" process. And they contain very little beef as far as beef is beefed.

Kinja'd!!! benjrblant > Dr. Zoidberg - RIP Oppo
07/20/2018 at 17:05

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah, it’s always measured pre-cooked. Hard to portion meat after it’s been charred to an FDA-advised internal temperature of burnt degrees.

And like you’d expect beefy beefness from a beef-grower from either of those places.

Not quite that simple. They throw the frozen dough in a pan with oil until it thaws and rises, then they throw toppings on and bake it.

I’ve driven by about 4:30 so just before dinner rush and they had 4 delivery cars ready to go.  Usually the tracker stays on “getting ready” for a solid 30 minutes once you order and then it goes pretty quick once they start. They just get overwhelmed with orders. When they first opened they turned off online ordering it was so bad.

See in my town of about 40K, we’d have 10+ drivers around the same time. When I worked there, we’d have orders to customers in ~15 min consistently. It was only when we were understaffed or the weather was bad that it’d ever take more than 20 min to get someone their food.
